Music technology company ROLI has appointed Kaizo to promote its range of innovative musical devices and technologies in the UK. ROLI is the inventor of the revolutionary Seaboard musical instrument, and is changing the way musicians, DJs, producers, and hobbyists make music through a series of new instruments, tools and social platforms.
ROLI’s products include the Seaboards; a new generation of musical instruments which allow musicians to make any sound and play expressive, versatile music on a single playing surface. Based on the piano keyboard format, Seaboards let the user control sound through intuitive gestures, which instantly translate to sound.
Will MacNamara, senior communications lead at ROLI, said:
“ROLI’s aim is to create a more connected music ecosystem through our products and platforms, enabling people to make incredibly expressive music. We have big plans for this year and are looking forward to growing, disrupting and innovating, whilst still entertaining and delighting our customers”.
ROLI was the only British company to win a CES Best of Innovation 2016 Award; Seaboard users and fans across the globe include Hans Zimmer, Steve Angello, Dream Theatre’s Jordan Rudess, Grammy-winning producer Cory Henry, and the legendary Stevie Wonder.
Rhodri Harries, managing director at Kaizo, said:
“We are so excited to be working with ROLI – the innovation and creativity is behind the instruments is truly awe-inspiring, as is the ambition of the brand to become a household name, not just a music industry favourite”.
Other ROLI products include JUCE; an audio framework which allows music applications to run faster; Equator, a software synthesizer; and NOISE 5D, an app-ified instrument in its own right, which also acts as the software component to the Seaboard instruments.
The company was founded by Roland Lamb in 2009 and is based in Dalston, East London. Now with 80+ staff, the company continues to grow following its Series A funding, which included a strategic investment from Universal Music.
