Kaizo helps Elsevier to build its Scopus Young Researcher UK Award programme

Kaizo has been appointed by existing client Elsevier, a world-leading provider of information solutions for science, health, and technology professionals, to support its biannual award scheme for young researchers across the UK.

The Scopus Young Researcher UK Award started in 2011 with the aim to recognise and reward the talent, knowledge and expertise of young researchers in the UK in a variety of disciplines. This award was developed by Elsevier in association with the US-UK Fulbright Commission.

In 2015, Elsevier will grow the award scheme to include a new, cross discipline award category devoted to finding the next generation of outstanding scientific communicators. The new category will add a social element to the awards, as researchers will be able to nominate and vote for their peers using the social network, Mendeley.

“We’re delighted to be working with Kaizo on this project” said Petra Ullrich, Regional Marketing Director, Elsevier.  “Our hope is that awards like these will help to celebrate and showcase young talent and encourage the next generation of researchers to think big and aim high. The new category is an exciting addition.”

Emma Knott, Account Director at Kaizo and STEMPRA committee member, said: “Scientific communication has a big impact not just on the public understanding of science, but also on the career trajectory of young scientists. We hope this new, socially driven category will help to stimulate conversations, both around the awards and also the wider importance of science communication.”

The award nomination process will run from March through to the end of August, with the award ceremony taking place in November.

Kaizo’s track record with STEM organisations includes Elsevier, Society of Biology, European Science Foundation and SecondSight.
